Xiaomi introduces the Redmi 17 5G featuring a 7,500mAh battery and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor, offering significant upgrades in battery life and connectivity for the midrange segment.
Xiaomi has added a new variant to its Redmi midrange line-up with the Redmi 17 5G, a handset that is largely identical to the existing 4G model apart from its chipset. The 5G version uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor, while the 4G-only model relies on MediaTek’s Helio G91 Ultra. Both phones are offered with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The rest of the specification sheet is familiar. Xiaomi has fitted a 6.9-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The front camera is an 8-megapixel unit, while the rear camera array centres on a 50-megapixel main sensor. The phone also keeps the Dynamic RGB light feature, which can be used for notifications, charging prompts and camera countdowns.
Battery life is the headline feature. The Redmi 17 5G carries a 7,500mAh battery, which Xiaomi says can deliver up to 109 hours of music playback, 28 hours of video playback and 10 hours of video recording. It supports 22.5W wired reverse charging for topping up other devices and accessories, and Xiaomi includes a 45W wired charger in the box. The phone ships with Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and a promised 48-month like-new software experience. Xiaomi has also varied the colour options, with the 5G model apparently getting the stronger palette. It is already listed in select markets from MYR769, or about Php11,400, but there is no confirmed launch date for the Philippines.
