Motorola Moto G47 struggles to keep pace with similarly priced competitors

The Motorola Moto G47, powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 chip, offers dependable performance for basic tasks but falls behind rivals like Xiaomi and Samsung in benchmark tests, raising questions about its value at the budget end of the market.

Motorola’s Moto G47 is aimed squarely at the budget end of the market, where raw speed is less important than a phone that feels dependable for routine tasks. According to Notebookcheck’s review, the handset uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300, a low-cost chip paired with 8GB of RAM. On paper, that should be enough for basic use, but synthetic testing suggests the margin for heavier workloads is slim.

The Dimensity 6300 is an octa-core processor built on a 6-nanometre process, with two Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. Benchmark data from NanoReview puts its Geekbench 6 scores at 771 for single-core and 1,980 for multi-core performance, which helps explain why the Moto G47 is not positioned as a performance-focused device. Motorola’s own support materials also list 8GB of LPDDR4X memory, 128GB of storage and Android 16.

In everyday use, Notebookcheck found the phone broadly capable of handling messaging apps, web browsing, maps and video playback without major problems, although brief pauses can still appear. That makes the Moto G47 suitable for light daily tasks, but not for demanding gaming or sustained multitasking, where the chip’s limits become more obvious. NanoReview rates the chip’s gaming performance at 6 out of 10, underscoring that point.

The wider market also puts the Moto G47’s value proposition under pressure. Notebookcheck’s comparison showed that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 5G and Samsung Galaxy A37 5G, both only slightly more expensive online, deliver substantially stronger benchmark results. In one comparison, the Redmi device scored 2,963 in Geekbench 6 multi-core tests and the Samsung phone 3,505, versus 1,306 for the Moto G47, illustrating a large performance gap for buyers who can stretch their budget a little further.
