The slim 5,000mAh magnetic power banks making iPhone top-ups less bulky

Five slim magnetic power banks promise convenient extra battery life for iPhone users, but wireless speeds, weight and heat management vary widely between models.

Even the latest iPhone Pro models can run down quickly during a long day of navigation, photography, video capture and constant mobile data use. For buyers who want extra battery life without carrying a bulky brick and cable, slim magnetic power banks remain a practical compromise: they attach directly to the back of a compatible phone, reduce clutter and keep the charging set-up portable. The five models compared here all use 5,000mAh cells, so the emphasis is on convenience and daily top-ups rather than repeated full recharges.

That capacity limit matters. In practice, a 5,000mAh accessory does not translate into a 5,000mAh charge for the phone, because wireless transfer wastes some energy and real-world performance depends on temperature, battery state and how heavily the handset is being used. Apple’s current Pro models support MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at up to 25W, but the power bank itself determines the actual output. That means some of these accessories deliver 15W wirelessly, while others are restricted to 7.5W, with USB-C often offering a faster wired alternative.

Among the slimmest options, Anker’s Nano Power Bank is one of the most compact, at 8.6mm thick and about 122g. According to Anker, it supports 15W Qi2 wireless charging and 20W via USB-C, with temperature monitoring built in to help manage heat during longer sessions. The company says it is also compatible with MagSafe-style cases up to 2.5mm thick. Anker lists the accessory at $54.99, positioning it as a premium small-form-factor choice for users who want magnetic charging without moving to a heavier 10,000mAh unit.

Baseus takes a different approach with the PicoGo AM41. At roughly 110g and 9.2mm thick, it is one of the lightest models in this group, but its magnetic wireless output is capped at 7.5W, even though USB-C can reach 20W. That trade-off makes it more attractive to users who value low weight and expect to rely on a cable when charging speed becomes important. Belkin’s BoostCharge Slim Magnetic Power Bank 5K sits slightly above that in thickness at 10.6mm and about 119g, but adds features such as simultaneous charging of two devices and pass-through charging. Belkin also says the shell uses 85% post-consumer recycled plastic, and the company includes a USB-C cable in the box.

UGREEN’s MagFlow Air and SHARGE’s AeroMag Air aim more directly at buyers who want 15W Qi2 charging in a slim body. UGREEN’s unit measures 8.6mm thick and about 127g, with 20W USB-C input and output, while SHARGE’s 5K model is 8.7mm thick and about 113g. SHARGE uses an anodised aluminium exterior rather than plastic and says its graphene cooling system is designed to help with heat management. The larger 10,000mAh version in the same line is substantially thicker and heavier, which underlines the point of the smaller model: it is meant for people who want a discreet magnetic charger, not a travel battery.

In practical terms, the best option depends on how the accessory will be used. The Anker and UGREEN models stand out for their 15W magnetic charging in a very thin format. The Baseus model is the lightest, but its slower wireless output makes USB-C more important. Belkin is the most flexible for multi-device use, while SHARGE offers a more distinctive metal finish without abandoning the slim profile. For iPhone owners who want to extend battery life during commuting, photography or a full day away from a plug socket, these 5,000mAh chargers are best seen as everyday support items rather than replacements for a larger power bank.
