Xiaomi 17T Pro wins the value fight as POCO F9 Pro narrows the gap

The POCO F9 Pro brings a brighter display, stronger audio and emulation-friendly performance, but Xiaomi counters with a lower price, longer battery life, better cameras and more software support.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro and the POCO F9 Pro sit in the same price bracket, yet they are aimed at slightly different buyers. In YugaTech’s comparison, the two phones were presented as close rivals with broadly similar day-to-day behaviour, but with clear differences in camera tuning, display characteristics, battery capacity and software support. That makes the choice less about raw specifications and more about which compromises matter least. According to the comparison, Xiaomi is the cheaper of the two, while POCO asks for a higher price despite sharing much of the same premium-class hardware.

In design and handling, both devices feel familiar rather than radically different. YugaTech noted that each phone uses a largely similar camera layout, though the POCO’s rear module stretches across the width of the device, while the Xiaomi keeps a more conventional square island. The Xiaomi is the heavier handset, but both carry IP68 dust and water resistance and use an under-display fingerprint reader. The comparison also found that the POCO’s ultrasonic sensor gives it a slight biometric advantage, even though both unlock quickly in practice.

The display and audio divide is more nuanced. Xiaomi’s panel is larger, while POCO’s screen is smaller, sharper on paper and rated for a higher refresh rate and higher peak brightness. YugaTech said the practical experience was close, with both phones remaining easy to read outdoors and smooth in ordinary use. Colour handling, however, differed: Xiaomi leaned towards a more balanced image, while POCO delivered a punchier presentation. Audio favoured POCO as well, with its BOSE tuning giving it a fuller and clearer sound. Those findings broadly align with other comparison sources, which also emphasise brightness, colour and multimedia as the main areas of contrast.

Camera performance is where Xiaomi takes the cleaner lead. The 17T Pro uses a Leica-tuned main camera, a periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and a 12-megapixel ultrawide, while the POCO F9 Pro counters with a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens and an 8-megapixel ultrawide. YugaTech found that POCO has made a credible step forward, especially on the main camera, where it can keep pace with Xiaomi more closely than previous POCO models might have. Even so, Xiaomi was judged stronger for selfies, video and low-light capture, while its longer optical zoom range made it the more versatile imaging phone overall.

Performance was less decisive. Both phones use flagship-grade chipsets, 12GB of RAM and fast storage, and both produced strong benchmark results as well as smooth everyday use. YugaTech reported that each handset handled mainstream games well, though both could warm up under sustained load. The one area where POCO has a practical edge is emulation, because Snapdragon-based phones usually enjoy better software support and compatibility for that use case. Software support also tilts towards Xiaomi, which is promised one extra major Android upgrade compared with POCO. Battery life is strong on both, but Xiaomi’s larger 7,000mAh cell helped it last longer in mixed-use testing, while both phones support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Taken together, the comparison points towards Xiaomi as the more rounded buy for most people. It is the cheaper phone, lasts longer in mixed use, gets more software updates and delivers the stronger camera package, particularly for selfies and video. POCO still has a case for buyers who value its display, audio and gaming-friendly Snapdragon platform, and it is clearly no longer a device focused only on raw speed. But on balance, the evidence from the comparison suggests that the Xiaomi 17T Pro offers the better overall value, while the POCO F9 Pro is the more specialised option.
