Poco X8 pairs a 3,500-nit AMOLED display with nearly 30-hour battery life

Xiaomi’s sub-€300 Poco X8 combines an exceptionally bright 120Hz AMOLED screen with an 8,340mAh battery, although PWM flicker and colour accuracy remain notable compromises.

Xiaomi’s Poco X8 is shaping up as one of the more compelling mid-range phones of 2026, chiefly because it combines a very bright OLED screen with unusually strong endurance for the price. Notebookcheck says the device is designed to stand out in everyday use rather than in a single headline metric, and that approach is backed by Xiaomi’s own specification sheet, which lists a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel, a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 platform and an 8,340mAh battery. In a crowded budget segment, that combination is difficult to ignore.

The display is the phone’s most visible strength. Xiaomi claims a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, while Notebookcheck says real-world outdoor visibility is excellent, with around 1,000 nits available in daily use and even higher levels in small HDR highlights. The panel also refreshes at up to 120Hz, with touch response tuned for fast interaction. That said, the review notes two caveats that matter for some buyers: the PWM flicker frequency is relatively low at 125Hz, and colour accuracy is not class-leading, with reds tending to look too strong.

Battery life is where the Poco X8 appears to pull ahead of many rivals. Notebookcheck says its web-browsing endurance comes close to 30 hours in testing, which places it ahead of similarly priced alternatives such as Motorola’s Moto G77 and comfortably above its predecessor, the Poco X7. Gizmochina’s launch report reached the same broad conclusion, describing the handset as a standout in its class for stamina. Xiaomi also backs that claim with support for 67W wired charging on the UK specification page, which should reduce the downside of carrying such a large battery.

The result is a phone that seems aimed at users who value display quality and long operating time above all else. It is not presented as a perfect all-rounder, and Notebookcheck makes clear that it still has weaknesses to weigh up before buying. But for shoppers who want a bright screen, strong battery life and mainstream performance without paying flagship prices, the Poco X8 is emerging as one of the more interesting options in the sub-€300 category.
