Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12+ makes a costly case for replacing your laptop

With a 120Hz AMOLED display, bundled S Pen, powerful hardware and long-term software support, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12+ is designed for serious creative and productivity work , but its Rs 1,29,999 starting price demands more than casual use.

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12+ is pitched as a premium tablet for users who want more than a large screen. In ABP Live’s review, the device is presented as an expensive but clearly purposeful machine: one that pairs a high-end display, a bundled S Pen and strong audio with hardware aimed at creative and productivity use rather than casual entertainment alone. The starting price in India, at Rs 1,29,999, places it firmly in laptop territory and immediately narrows the audience to buyers who will make regular use of its extra capabilities.

The display is the tablet’s strongest selling point. Samsung’s panel uses Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology and a 2,800 x 1,752 resolution, with sources including Samsung’s launch coverage via SamMobile and Android Central describing it as a 12.6-inch 120Hz screen. That combination gives the Tab S12+ the sort of sharpness, contrast and motion handling expected from a flagship device. It is the kind of screen that suits film streaming, long reading sessions and detailed visual work, while the slim 5.3mm body helps the tablet feel more refined than many larger rivals.

Samsung also includes the S Pen in the box, which is important at this price. The stylus gives the tablet a more convincing case for note-taking, sketching and document annotation, and it avoids the awkwardness of asking customers to pay extra for an accessory that is central to the experience. The audio system also appears to be a meaningful part of the package. According to Samsung’s official launch details reported by SamMobile, the tablet adds 4-channel spatial audio, which supports the review’s view that the device is well suited to watching content without immediately reaching for headphones.

Under the surface, the Tab S12+ has the sort of specification sheet expected of a premium Android tablet. Notebookcheck and other hands-on listings say it is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, with 12GB of RAM and storage options up to 512GB. The 10,600mAh battery and 45W charging support are also consistent across the published specifications, giving the device the endurance expected from a tablet built around a large, high-resolution display. Samsung’s announcement coverage further suggests a new 3D vapour chamber for cooling, a useful addition for sustained workloads and heavy multitasking.

The broader case for the Tab S12+ is therefore less about raw novelty and more about whether a buyer will actually use what Samsung has built in. For streaming, browsing and occasional note-taking, the price will be difficult to justify. For users who rely on the S Pen, work across multiple apps, or want a portable canvas for media and creative tasks, the equation looks more defensible. Samsung has also positioned the device with long-term software support, with reports indicating seven OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, which strengthens its appeal for anyone treating a tablet as a long-term investment rather than an impulse purchase.
