Xiaomi Watch 5 impresses with battery life and full Wear OS features at a competitive price

The Xiaomi Watch 5 stands out among Wear OS watches in its price range, offering exceptional battery life, a comprehensive feature set, and stylish hardware, though its design may not appeal to all.

The Xiaomi Watch 5 is positioned as one of the more compelling Wear OS watches in its price bracket, mainly because it combines a generous feature set with a cost that undercuts many better-known rivals. MovilZona argues that its strengths outweigh its weaknesses, even if its styling will not appeal to every buyer.

Its main selling point is battery life. Xiaomi uses a 930mAh silicon-carbon cell, a notably large capacity for a smartwatch running a full-featured operating system. According to Mobigyaan’s report on the global launch at MWC 2026, the watch is rated for up to six days in normal use and as much as 18 days in power-saving mode, while Wareable’s review also found battery endurance to be one of its most impressive traits. In practical terms, that means the watch can usually handle several days of notifications, sleep tracking and GPS workouts without needing a charger.

That endurance matters because the Watch 5 does not behave like a stripped-down fitness tracker. It runs Wear OS 6, gives access to Google Play, supports Google Wallet payments, and can be used for WhatsApp replies, Maps navigation and Gemini queries. The device also relies on a dual-chip design built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 1, which the launch material says helps keep the interface responsive and app launches smooth.

The hardware package is equally ambitious. Xiaomi pairs the software platform with a 1.54-inch AMOLED panel, sapphire crystal protection and gesture-based controls, while Wareable described the stainless-steel case as more attractive than many rivals in the same category. Even so, the design remains the one area most likely to divide opinion, especially among users who prefer a slimmer or more understated smartwatch. For buyers who value battery life and full Wear OS functionality above all else, the Watch 5 makes a strong case for itself.
