Homematic IP expands home surveillance with new connected cameras and video doorbell

eQ-3’s Homematic IP system broadens its range with six new connected cameras and a video doorbell, transforming from alarm and water-leak protection to a comprehensive home surveillance solution managed via a unified app, with enhanced features and data protection.

eQ-3 is expanding Homematic IP with six connected cameras and a video doorbell, broadening the system beyond alarms and water-leak protection into a fuller home-surveillance offer. The line-up is built to cover indoor rooms, external walls and entry points, with all devices managed through the Homematic IP app.

The range starts with a compact indoor camera that uses a magnetic base, 3-megapixel video, night vision up to 10 metres and motion and sound alerts. A second indoor model adds pan-and-tilt movement and 4-megapixel recording, together with automatic tracking of movement. Homematic IP also offers an outdoor camera with 5-megapixel video, night vision to 30 metres and integrated LED lighting for colour footage at night.

For places without convenient wiring, the company has added battery-powered options. One rechargeable outdoor camera is rated for up to six months’ standby time, while the video doorbell can run from its battery or be hard-wired using a 12V to 24V supply. According to Homematic IP’s product pages, the outdoor devices are weatherproof with an IP65 rating, making them suitable for year-round use.

The software side is also changing. Homematic IP says the app now brings alarm controls, connected devices, event history and video streams into one interface, with further features planned through free updates, including configurable alarm zones and multi-camera live viewing. The company also highlights its data-protection credentials, saying recordings can be stored locally on microSD or encrypted on servers in Germany, with no extra charge for the core functions.
