Netatmo introduces AI-powered features that personalise automation, improving security and energy efficiency without the hassle of rigid routines or ongoing subscriptions.
Netatmo is positioning artificial intelligence as the feature that separates genuine automation from simple remote control. Rather than asking users to build rigid routines or manage settings constantly, the company says its systems are designed to learn household behaviour and the characteristics of the building itself, then act on that data. That approach is meant to reduce the friction that often makes smart home products feel like more work than help.
The clearest example is in security. According to Netatmo’s product information, its outdoor camera can distinguish between people, vehicles and animals, while the Indoor Camera Advance uses facial recognition to identify familiar household members. In practice, that means fewer irrelevant alerts and less chance that users will begin ignoring notifications after repeated false alarms. Netatmo also says footage is stored locally on encrypted microSD cards and that no subscription is required for core functions, a point likely to appeal to buyers wary of ongoing fees and cloud dependence.
Energy management is another area where the company is leaning on automation. Netatmo says its Smart Thermostat Original and Smart Air Conditioning Controller use Eco-Assist, a geofencing feature that detects when residents leave home and helps prevent heating or cooling systems from running unnecessarily. The company argues that this is a better fit for busy households than fixed schedules, because it adjusts to real movement rather than assumptions about routine.
Netatmo is also extending that logic to weather and climate monitoring. Its Smart Home Weather Station measures indoor and outdoor conditions including temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure and air quality, while optional rain and wind accessories add more local data. The company says those readings can be used to respond to changing conditions on the property, from heavy rain to a sudden drop in temperature. Netatmo lists the Indoor Camera Advance at €249.99, the Smart Thermostat Original at €149.99, the Air Conditioning Controller at €119.99, the Weather Station at €169.99, the Rain Gauge at €79.99 and the Anemometer at €109.99, with no subscription fees attached to the devices’ main functions.
