Adobe has launched Premiere Mobile for Android, providing free access to advanced video editing tools including 4K export, multitrack timelines, and AI-enhanced features, as it phases out Premiere Rush for a new generation of social media creators.
Adobe has released Premiere Mobile for Android, extending its mobile video editor to phones and tablets running Google’s operating system after an earlier iPhone launch. According to Adobe, the app is free to download and is aimed at creators who want a faster, simpler editing workflow on mobile devices. It supports multitrack timelines, 4K export without a watermark, transitions, effects and audio tools, while also taking the place of Premiere Rush as Adobe winds that product down.
Most of the core editing tools are available without a subscription. Users can trim, cut and rearrange clips, layer video and audio tracks, apply filters and transitions, record voiceovers and use templates designed for social media. Adobe also includes its Enhance Audio feature, which is intended to reduce background noise and improve voice clarity. The company says no login is required to begin editing, save projects locally or export finished videos.
The app’s free tier also includes unlimited exports at up to 4K resolution, with no watermark and no in-app advertising. The main paid elements are Adobe Firefly’s generative AI features, which use credits to create images, stickers, sound effects and related assets, plus optional extra cloud storage. Adobe says basic editing, 4K export and watermark removal are not locked behind a subscription.
The Android release is not a direct replacement for the full desktop Premiere Pro. Adobe has simplified the interface for mobile creation and says the app is designed to suit quick social-video production as well as foldable devices. According to Wired, it requires Android 13 or later and at least 5GB of RAM. Adobe also says tighter integration with the desktop version, Adobe Fonts and improved captions are still to come, with unlimited captions due before the end of the year. The app is now available on the Google Play Store as an early access release.
