Beeper reveals an overhaul to its universal chat service, merging conversations across multiple networks into single threads, while adding organisational tools like Labels and personalised space pinning to streamline user communication across devices and platforms.
Beeper has released an update that tackles one of the most common irritations in modern messaging: the same person appearing in separate threads across different apps. The universal chat service now merges conversations with the same contact from supported networks into a single thread, so messages that might previously have been split between WhatsApp, Slack, Instagram and other services can be viewed together. That makes the app less about switching between platforms and more about keeping one conversation in view.
The company says the change sits on top of Beeper’s existing unified inbox, which already pulls in messages from more than 10 networks, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Signal, Messenger, X, Google Messages, Google Chat, LinkedIn and Discord. Beeper is available across macOS, iOS, Android, Windows and Linux, and it says most connections are handled on-device, a design intended to preserve end-to-end encryption where the underlying network supports it. In practice, the update is aimed at users who juggle personal, work and social conversations across several services and want those exchanges grouped more intelligently.
Beeper has also added Labels, which create separate spaces for categories such as work, close friends or family. Those labels can be used to keep certain chats out of the main inbox, depending on how a user wants to organise their day. A redesigned Spacebar, available on Android and iOS, lets people pin their most-used spaces to the front of the app. The company is also broadening functionality with poll creation and voting in supported apps, while the desktop app now supports Spanish, French, Japanese and Portuguese.
Several features that were previously limited to Plus subscribers are also being made free on a trial basis, including Incognito Mode, scheduled sending, voice note transcription, chat reminders and custom labels. Android users now get more visual control, with global or per-chat options for colours, bubble styles and animated wallpapers. On iPhone, Beeper has added CarPlay support, allowing drivers to check and respond to messages more safely on the road.
