The popular productivity launcher Raycast officially releases version 2.0, featuring a redesigned interface, expanded AI capabilities, and a new usage-based pricing system aimed at supporting longer workflows and AI development.
Raycast has moved version 2.0 out of beta, bringing a rebuilt interface, broader AI features and a pricing reset that shifts the product towards usage-based billing. The update, which the company says was re-engineered over the past year for the “next era of personal computing”, is now available to all users after first being shown and opened to testers in May.
The release adds several practical changes to the launcher and its AI tools. According to Raycast’s changelog, version 2.0 includes improved root-level file search, upgraded system-wide dictation, automatic skill loading and a redesigned Quick AI experience. The company also says the stable release restores the inline emoji picker, support for third-party models and a rebuilt AI Chat mode intended to handle more complex tasks.
Raycast has also changed how its AI service is priced. In a blog post, the company said it is moving from rate limits to a credit-based system, while keeping the headline subscription prices unchanged. Its pricing page lists Pro at $10 a month, Pro+ at $20 and Max at $50, with monthly AI credit allowances of 500, 3,000 and 7,500 respectively. Raycast says the new structure is meant to support longer-running work and provide a more sustainable model for AI development.
The software remains free to download and use, but some functions now require a paid subscription, and heavier AI use will consume credits more quickly depending on the model and task. Raycast’s AI documentation says users can also bring their own models or API keys, and the broader platform continues to centre on Quick AI, AI Chat, agents, commands and extensions.
