xAI unveils Imagine Image 2.0, a major upgrade to its image-generation model, emphasising prompt accuracy, layout control, and advanced editing capabilities for complex visual tasks and diverse workflows.

xAI has released Imagine Image 2.0, the latest version of its image-generation model for Grok, with a sharper focus on prompt accuracy, layout control and selective editing. According to iPhones.ru, the update is designed to handle more complex compositions than before, including infographics, posters and images with dense text, where typography and arrangement matter as much as the subject itself.

One of the main changes is finer editing of existing images. Users can now mark a specific area with a “magic wand” tool and alter only that section without affecting the rest of the picture. xAI has also added segmentation tools for more exact object selection, which should make local edits more practical for routine design work. The system can also remove a background automatically and export the subject on a transparent backdrop.

The model now accepts up to five source images at once, allowing elements from different pictures to be combined into a single generation without manual compositing. Another addition, Smart Resize, lets users choose a new aspect ratio and have Grok rebuild the image to fit formats such as 9:16, 1:1, 16:9 and 2:1. xAI has also introduced preset templates for tasks such as product recolouring, advertising graphics, collages, professional portraits, icons, game characters, emojis and merchandise.

According to the company’s own materials, the broader Grok Imagine 2.0 system is available through the Grok website and mobile apps for iOS and Android. xAI says the model is intended to support both text-to-image generation and image-to-image editing, with multiple aspect ratios and batch creation options for faster workflows.
