The rechargeable SureFind Loop Cable Tag combines cross-platform item tracking with a detachable USB-C lead that also recharges the device.
Belkin has unveiled a small accessory that tries to solve two everyday problems at once: keeping track of a bag or set of keys, and carrying a USB-C cable when one is not otherwise to hand. The company’s SureFind Loop Cable Tag is a rechargeable tracker that attaches to personal items through a loop which also functions as a usable USB-C lead.
According to Belkin’s support material, the tag works with Apple Find My and Google Find Hub, giving it cross-platform compatibility unusual for this kind of accessory. The device uses Bluetooth 5.3 for location tracking, includes a built-in speaker for audible alerts, and supports left-behind notifications so users can be warned if an item is separated from their phone. Belkin says the loop can be detached from the main body and used as a short charging cable when needed.
The company’s documentation also says the tag itself is rechargeable rather than dependent on a replaceable coin cell. Belkin states that a full charge takes about 90 minutes, with battery life reaching up to six months depending on use. That arrangement means the same cable built into the loop is also used to top up the tracker, reducing the chance of leaving the tag unusable because the right charging lead is missing.
Belkin announced the product in September and priced it at $24.99 in the US, equivalent to about ¥3,960 at the time of the original report. Japanese publication Gizmodo noted that launch timing and local pricing for Japan had not yet been confirmed. For users who regularly misplace charging accessories as well as their luggage, the design is an obvious piece of practical engineering: the tether needed to carry the tracker is also the spare cable.
