Retailer Best Buy reduces the price of the original Bose QuietComfort Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones to $229 as Bose prepares to launch the upgraded second generation on August 13, offering consumers a choice between savings and the latest features.
Best Buy is discounting the first-generation Bose QuietComfort Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Bluetooth Headphones to $229, a cut from the original $359 price, as Bose prepares to bring out the next version on August 13. The retailer is also taking pre-orders for the new model, which carries the same $359 list price and arrives in updated colours.
For shoppers focused on value rather than the latest release, the older model remains the more compelling buy. According to Best Buy, it still offers active noise cancellation, up to 24 hours of battery life, a built-in microphone, on-ear controls and a customisable equaliser through the Bose app. It is available in seven colours: black, ice blue, moonlight grey, petal pink, sandstone, twilight blue and white smoke.
The newer QuietComfort model is being positioned as an incremental upgrade rather than a full redesign. Bose says it brings improved audio performance, enhanced on-ear controls and additional listening modes. Best Buy says it will ship shortly after the August 13 launch date, while the discounted first-generation headphones include next-day delivery.
That leaves buyers with a straightforward choice. Those who want Bose’s newest hardware can wait for the second generation, but those seeking a sizeable saving on a well-specified pair of noise-cancelling headphones can still make a strong case for the original.
