Beyerdynamic expands its MMX range with the launch of two lower-priced wireless gaming headsets, offering choices of open or closed designs, longer battery life, and versatile connectivity for gamers on a budget.
Beyerdynamic has added two lower-priced wireless gaming headsets to its MMX range, broadening a line that has so far been positioned towards higher-end models. According to Notebookcheck, the new MMX 100 Wireless and MMX 130 Wireless are due to arrive in black and Arctic white, giving buyers a choice of a closed or open design at a more accessible price point.
The MMX 100 Wireless uses a closed-back construction, which is generally better suited to passive noise isolation, while the MMX 130 Wireless adopts an open design intended to create a wider soundstage. Both models use 40mm drivers, with the MMX 130’s units additionally titan-coated. Beyerdynamic says the headsets support 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 6 and a wired connection, so they can be used with PCs, consoles and mobile devices. The company also claims sub-30ms latency over the 2.4GHz dongle.
Comfort and endurance appear to be central to the design. Notebookcheck reports that both headsets use soft velour ear pads and fold flat for easier transport. Beyerdynamic says battery life can reach up to 80 hours, and the battery is replaceable, which should improve long-term serviceability. Voice capture is handled by a flexible, detachable Meta-Voice microphone. On its own product pages, Beyerdynamic also highlights familiar gaming-focused controls such as a volume wheel and separate mute button for the MMX 100.
Pricing places the pair firmly below the brand’s more established gaming offerings. According to Notebookcheck, the MMX 100 Wireless is set at $150 and should ship in September, while the MMX 130 Wireless will cost $180 and is expected in October. Taken together, the launches suggest Beyerdynamic is trying to cover a wider spread of buyers: those who want the isolation of a closed headset, and those who prefer the more open presentation associated with a broader acoustic image.
