A small Bluetooth adapter is being pitched as an easy way to keep older audio gear in service without replacing it. Twelve South’s AirFly Pro 2 plugs into a standard 3.5mm jack and sends sound wirelessly to Bluetooth headphones or earbuds, making it useful with aircraft entertainment systems, gym machines, older stereo systems and other equipment that still lacks built-in wireless support, according to the company and retail listings.
The appeal is in the simplicity. Once paired, the device can stay ready for repeat use, so there is no need to rework the source equipment or swap out a functioning system. That makes it more of a practical bridge than a full upgrade, but for travellers and anyone using older hardware, that can be enough.
According to Twelve South’s product information, the AirFly Pro 2 uses Bluetooth 5.3, supports two headphones at the same time and offers more than 25 hours of battery life. It charges through USB-C, measures 56.5mm by 29mm by 11.2mm and weighs 16.5g. The device also has physical volume controls, which are useful when the audio source is out of reach, as on an aeroplane seatback screen.
The most obvious use case is travel. Bose’s product page notes that the adapter can connect Bluetooth headphones to in-flight entertainment systems and gym equipment, while also working as an AUX-in adapter for sending phone audio to car or boat speakers. That makes it relevant in hotels, on exercise machines and in rental cars, although the benefit in vehicles depends on whether the audio system can accept Bluetooth input.
Pricing places it in the mid-range for accessories of this kind. The Italian report says the AirFly Pro 2 costs about €50, with some Amazon listings at roughly €47.99 at the time it was checked by the German outlet cited in the article. That is not the cheapest option on the market, but it may suit people who travel often, already own good wireless headphones and want a compact tool for older equipment without changing the hardware around it.
