HyperDrive’s Thunderbolt 5 dock hits a record-low $300 with built-in SSD support

The HyperDrive Next Thunderbolt 5 Dock is $100 off for the first time, combining multi-monitor support, 140W charging and an internal M.2 slot in one compact unit.

The HyperDrive Next Thunderbolt 5 Dock has dropped to $300, according to Macworld, putting it $100 below its regular $400 price and marking the first time the accessory has been discounted by that amount. For MacBook Pro owners who are not ready to replace their laptop, the appeal is straightforward: one dock can add wired networking, external storage, display support and extra ports in a single unit.

The layout is generous. Macworld says the dock provides two USB-A ports and an audio jack on the front, plus a Thunderbolt 5 downstream port, while the rear adds Ethernet, two more USB-A ports and three additional Thunderbolt 5 connections. The built-in M.2 slot is the feature that separates it from many rivals, since it allows an NVMe SSD to be installed directly in the dock for local, desk-side storage. The company also says the enclosure can take compatible PCIe-based M.2 modules, including AI accelerators.

Display and power support are strong too. According to Hyper, the dock can drive up to three 4K monitors at 60Hz or a single 8K display at 144Hz, and it offers up to 140W charging alongside 2.5Gbps Ethernet. TechRadar’s review praised the feature set and compact build, but noted limits that buyers should keep in mind: the dock has no native HDMI or DisplayPort outputs, so adapters are required, and some performance bottlenecks appear to stem from the Intel controller inside the unit. Even so, for users who want a high-end Thunderbolt 5 hub with built-in storage expansion, the current discount makes the proposition more compelling than its list price would suggest.
