JBL Pulse 6 blends immersive light display with rugged durability and home-friendly features

JBL has launched the Pulse 6, a portable speaker that combines 360-degree LED visuals, premium sound, outdoor durability, and new connectivity features, positioning itself as a versatile centrepiece for both outdoor use and home environments.

JBL has unveiled the Pulse 6, a portable speaker that keeps the series’ transparent styling while adding a lighted carry handle and a revised acoustic package. According to the company’s announcement, the model is designed to combine room-filling audio with a 360-degree LED display that can be tailored through the JBL One app, extending the product’s emphasis on atmosphere as much as sound. It is aimed at users who want a speaker that works as both a music device and a visual centrepiece. According to coverage in Cinco Días, the Pulse 6 uses a 30W woofer and a 10W tweeter for a combined 40W RMS output. The same report says JBL is using its AI Sound Boost processing to manage volume and distortion in real time. The report adds support for Bluetooth 6.0, SBC, AAC and LC3 codecs, alongside lossless playback over USB-C.

The Pulse 6 also follows JBL’s wider move towards tougher, more outdoor-ready portables. JBL says the speaker carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and offers up to 12 hours of battery life, with a full recharge taking about 4.5 hours. That places it in the same durability class as other recent JBL models such as the Charge 6, which Crutchfield describes as an IP68 speaker built for rougher use and long sessions away from mains power. JBL’s own Flip 6 remains a useful point of comparison: it also offers 12 hours of playtime, but with an IP67 rating and a more conventional portable-speaker design. The new Pulse model, by contrast, leans more heavily on presentation, with the illuminated handle and circular light effects forming part of its identity.

JBL has also built in features intended to make the Pulse 6 more flexible in the home. The company says the speaker includes a lamp function and a Sunset Mode that softens both light and sound, which is intended to make it easier to use as a bedside or evening speaker rather than only at parties. JBL also says it supports Auracast, the newer broadcast-based speaker-sharing system that is appearing across its range and can link compatible devices, including PartyBox products and PartyLight sticks, for larger listening setups. That marks a shift from older JBL ecosystems such as PartyBoost, which remains on products like the Flip 6 and Pulse 5. According to Cinco Días, the Pulse 6 will launch in China at 2,499 yuan, which the publication puts at about 300 euros.
