Lofree releases a sleek, Mac-focused version of its Flow 2 low-profile mechanical keyboard, featuring a customised layout, premium aluminium build, and versatile connectivity options aimed at Apple users seeking a desktop alternative.
Lofree has launched a Mac-focused version of its Flow 2 low-profile mechanical keyboard, aiming squarely at users who want MacBook-style key placement without giving up the sharper feel of mechanical switches. According to Lofree Japan, the Flow 2 for Mac uses a slim aluminium chassis and a layout that closely follows Apple’s own keyboard spacing, including the positioning of Fn, Control, Option and Command. The company says the model is meant to sit naturally beside a MacBook rather than look like an unrelated peripheral.
The keyboard is being sold in 84-key and 100-key versions, both with hot-swappable switches. Lofree says the standard switch is the Surfer linear type developed with Kailh, while Pulse tactile and Void silent linear options are also available. The finish choices are Brush, Indigo, Citrus and Silver. The overall design keeps the low-profile form factor that has made the Flow series stand out, while adding Mac-specific labelling and a layout intended to reduce the adjustment period for Apple users.
Reviewers of the wider Flow 2 line have generally praised the build quality and typing feel. Tom’s Guide described the keyboard as a premium aluminium model with strong battery life and responsive Kailh switches, while RTINGS said it offers a refined out-of-the-box experience and meaningful improvements over earlier Flow models. PC Gamer also highlighted the sound-dampening layers and VIA support for custom macros, which allow users to remap keys and create shortcuts through a browser-based tool without installing extra software.
There are still some caveats. Tom’s Guide noted that the touch bar can feel awkwardly placed and that a metallic echo may remain audible on some units, while RTINGS reported that connectivity issues have been raised by some owners. Even so, the Flow 2 for Mac is clearly pitched as a premium option for people who want a compact board with a more desktop-friendly feel than a standard laptop keyboard. Lofree Japan says the keyboard supports USB-C, Bluetooth 5.3 and 2.4GHz wireless use, with a 1,000Hz polling rate in wired and wireless dongle modes, and a 3,000mAh battery. The Japanese site lists the price at about ¥33,000, with reservations open and shipping expected in mid-August.
