Moondrop EVO 2 transforms wired earphones into fully wireless sound with advanced tuning features

Moondrop launches the EVO 2 in Japan, offering a versatile wireless module that upgrades existing wired earphones with customisable sound, long battery life, and broad Bluetooth compatibility, reshaping on-the-go audio experience.

MOONDROP has put the EVO 2 on sale in Japan from 5 October, positioning it as a way to turn existing wired earphones into a fully wireless setup without replacing the earpieces themselves. The ear-hook module combines a Bluetooth receiver, DAC and amplifier in one unit, and the company says it is aimed at listeners who want convenience without giving up their current in-ear monitors. According to the announcement carried by AppBank and the company’s press materials, the unit is being sold domestically for 16,650 yen including tax.

The second-generation model is built around a custom Bluetooth system-on-chip and a high-efficiency Class-D digital amplifier, a change MOONDROP says addresses the battery-life limits of the original EVO. The company says the new architecture reduces internal interference by carrying the signal through a digital path, while the redesigned 22 nm chip contributes to much longer endurance. MOONDROP’s figures, based on its own laboratory testing, put playback at up to 15 hours on a single charge, with the case adding around 45 hours more.

A major selling point is the updated user-tuned DSP system. MOONDROP says the EVO 2 offers a 10-band parametric equaliser, access to frequency-response data, and one-touch tuning matched to target curves stored in the cloud. The system also allows users to save, download and share settings, including by generating share links for social media. That makes the device less like a simple wireless adaptor and more like a miniature processing platform for tailoring the sound of different earphones.

The module also supports LHDC-V, LDAC and LC3, alongside SBC and AAC, giving it broad compatibility across higher-quality Bluetooth audio standards. MOONDROP says the unit includes dual microphones with beamforming and noise suppression for calls, plus a 60ms low-latency gaming mode that can be toggled with four taps. The charging case is described as waterproof, dust-resistant and pressure-protected, while the ear-hook connector itself is interchangeable for FitEar or MMCX use through separate accessories due later. Retail sales are being handled through Amazon, Rakuten, e☆イヤホン, Bic Camera, Fujiiya Avic and Yodobashi Camera.
