Moondrop launches EVO 2 with 15-hour wireless ear-hook DAC and innovative DSP features in Japan

Moondrop introduces its EVO 2 module in Japan, promising nearly double the battery life of its predecessor and advanced tuning options for high-end in-ear monitors, signalling a significant leap in wireless audio performance.

MOONDROP will begin Japanese sales of its EVO 2 wireless ear-hook DAC and amplifier module on 5 October 2026, positioning the device as a way to turn existing wired earphones into a fully wireless setup without sacrificing drive power. According to the company’s announcement, the new model is intended to address the battery-life compromise that affected the first generation while keeping support for high-end in-ear monitors.

The core change is an updated audio architecture built around MOONDROP’s custom TWS-01 Bluetooth system-on-chip and a high-efficiency digital amplifier. The company says this Class-D approach delivers more than 90 per cent operating efficiency and helps reduce internal interference by keeping the signal path digital for longer. MOONDROP claims the result is up to 15 hours of playback from the ear-hook unit itself, with the charging case extending total use to around 60 hours under its test conditions.

A major focus of EVO 2 is its second-generation user-participatory DSP system. The module offers a 10-band parametric equaliser, access to frequency-response data, and one-touch tuning based on a cloud target curve. It also supports configuration sharing, including downloadable presets from other users, and shared links for sending tuning profiles through social platforms. Retailers carrying the product have also described this as one of the more distinctive features in the new model.

For wireless audio, the device supports LHDC-V, LDAC and LC3. MOONDROP says LHDC-V can carry up to 24-bit/192kHz audio and includes adaptive transmission control, while LDAC handles up to 24-bit/96kHz. LC3 support brings compatibility with Bluetooth LE Audio devices and is intended to offer lower latency alongside better efficiency. The module also includes dual-microphone beamforming noise cancellation, a 60ms low-latency gaming mode and customisable touch controls through the company’s app.

The charging case is built as a protective, sealed-style unit designed to cope with harsher use, and the ear-hook system can be adapted for different connectors. MOONDROP says interchangeable terminals will allow support for FitEar and MMCX earphones, although those accessories are not yet on sale. In Japan, the EVO 2 will cost ¥16,650 including tax and will be sold through online retailers and specialist audio stores, including e☆イヤホン, Bic Camera, Fujiya Avic and Yodobashi Camera.
