The Pulse Explore model is built around Sony’s PlayStation Link system, which is intended to deliver low-latency wireless audio for PlayStation use. According to GameSpot, the earbuds launched in November 2023 and work with PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, Mac and mobile devices, with Bluetooth support alongside the Link USB adaptor. They also ship with a charging case and multiple ear tip sizes, giving them a more portable format than conventional over-ear headsets.
Battery life remains modest by headset standards. Sony says the earbuds last up to five hours on a charge, with the case adding roughly ten hours more. That is enough for typical play sessions, but it is not class-leading. Even so, CNET has noted that the planar magnetic drivers make them capable of handling music as well as gaming, while built-in microphones and mute and volume controls add practical voice-chat features.
There are caveats for buyers comparing them with other PS5 audio options. TechRadar has pointed to more generous battery life and stronger active noise cancellation in competing products such as SteelSeries’ Arctis Game Buds, while Sony’s own Pulse Elite headset offers a different format for those who prefer earcups. Still, for players who want compact wireless earbuds with native PlayStation support, the current Amazon price makes the Pulse Explore one of the more competitive options in Sony’s accessory range.
