TESSAN’s new power strip hides a retractable USB-C cable to tame desk clutter

The 8-in-1 Flat Plug Surge Protector combines four mains outlets with USB charging and a built-in 20W retractable USB-C lead, starting at $19.99.

TESSAN has added a new version of its compact power strip aimed at reducing desk and bedside clutter, combining conventional mains outlets with USB charging and a retractable USB-C lead in a single unit. According to the company’s product information, the 8-in-1 Flat Plug Surge Protector is designed for users who want one fixed charging point rather than several separate adapters and cables spread across a surface.

The main differentiator is the built-in 27.6-inch retractable USB-C cable, which the company says supports up to 20W charging for compatible devices. That places the product in the category of convenience accessories rather than high-wattage charging gear, but it may suit phones, tablets, headphones and portable batteries in everyday use. MacSources noted that the integrated cable is intended to cut down on cable clutter, while TESSAN positions it as a practical option for spaces where devices are constantly connected and disconnected.

Alongside the retractable lead, the unit combines four AC outlets, two USB-A ports and one USB-C port. B&H Photo’s specifications for closely related versions of the same product family list 1,050-joule surge protection and a total USB output of 15W, indicating that the strip is designed for modest charging loads rather than replacing a dedicated fast charger for multiple power-hungry devices. TESSAN also includes overload and short-circuit protection, and the low-profile 45-degree plug is meant to sit close to the wall behind furniture.

The product is available in grey and black, with cord lengths ranging from 5 to 15 feet depending on the version. TESSAN says pricing starts at $19.99, although the listed configurations vary by cord length and variant, including a 15A model said to support up to 1,875 watts. The strip also includes mounting holes for wall or under-desk installation and non-slip feet for use on a desk or shelf, which should make it adaptable to home offices, student rooms and bedside setups.
