The latest discussion centres on whether Apple will hold the event on Tuesday, September 8, or Wednesday, September 9, 2026. According to reporting cited by Forbes, Apple has typically avoided the day after Labour Day, which falls on September 7 this year, making September 9 the cleaner fit. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had originally pointed to September 8 as the likeliest option, but later appeared to shift towards September 9, and Tom’s Guide also says that date best matches the company’s usual pattern.
If Apple follows the schedule described by Forbes, pre-orders would open on Saturday, September 12, rather than the usual Friday slot, because September 11 falls on a Friday and Apple is said to avoid that date. Tom’s Guide similarly points to September 12 for pre-orders. A standard Friday launch would then follow on September 18, placing the new phones on sale one week after orders open.
The software timetable should move just ahead of the hardware. Forbes says iOS 27 would likely arrive on Monday, September 14, after the keynote and before the phones reach customers.
