Microsoft has already begun warning Australian Xbox users that, from late August 2026, adult accounts will have to verify their age before they can access apps and games rated 18+ in the Microsoft and Xbox Store. The company says content that has already been purchased will not be affected, but access to some store content may be limited until verification is completed. The new rules appear to focus on online experiences rather than every game with an adult classification.
