Google is set to unveil the Pixel 11 family on August 12, introducing a new rear light system and a foldable model amid rising prices and refreshed specifications, signalling a significant step forward for the Pixel series.
Google is set to unveil the Pixel 11 family on August 12 at its Made by Google event in New York, and the company has already begun seeding interest with teaser clips and host announcements. According to Mashable, the launch will include the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, with Trevor Noah hosting and guests including Stephen Curry and Alex Cooper. Tom’s Guide and Android Central both say the announcement is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET, with pre-orders expected to begin the same day.
The most visible change appears to be a new rear light system Google is calling HiLight, or Pixel Glow in some reports. Mashable said Google has shown a small multicoloured LED element inside the camera bar, while 9to5Google, as cited by Mashable, has linked it to alerts such as incoming messages when the phone is placed face down. TechRadar and other leak round-ups suggest the broader design will stay close to the Pixel 10, but with this new notification feature added to the familiar horizontal camera strip.
Pricing leaks point to a more expensive range. Mashable reported alleged starting prices of $899 for the Pixel 11, $1,099 for the Pixel 11 Pro, $1,299 for the Pixel 11 Pro XL and $1,899 for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, all higher than the equivalent Pixel 10 models. Tom’s Guide said the foldable could see the sharpest jump because of memory supply pressure, while Android Central reported that base storage may rise, potentially helping explain some of the increase.
On specifications, the base Pixel 11 is rumoured to keep a 6.3-inch OLED screen, a Tensor G6 chip and 120Hz refresh rate, but may lose its telephoto camera and ship with a slightly smaller battery than the Pixel 10. The Pro models are said to retain the triple-camera layout, with a 50MP main sensor, 48MP ultrawide and 48MP telephoto lens, plus a 42MP selfie camera. Several reports also point to a new 12GB RAM option on the Pro line, with Google possibly reserving 16GB for higher storage tiers.
The foldable model is shaping up as the most ambitious device in the range, if the leaks are accurate. Mashable said the Pixel 11 Pro Fold could have a 6.5-inch outer display, an 8-inch inner screen, up to 1TB of storage and a 4,806mAh battery. Tom’s Guide noted that Google’s teaser confirms the foldable design, while rumours also suggest the Pro models may gain a higher 120x digital zoom figure. For now, much of this remains unconfirmed, but the overall picture is clear: Google is keeping the Pixel formula familiar while adding a new visual feature and, possibly, higher prices.
