Xiaomi prepares to launch Redmi Note 17 5G in India with 8,000mAh battery and high-refresh display

Xiaomi is set to unveil the Redmi Note 17 5G for the Indian market on August 6, highlighting its massive 8,000mAh battery and a 120Hz AMOLED display, targeting long-lasting performance in the upper mid-range segment.

Xiaomi is set to bring the Redmi Note 17 5G to India on August 6, with the launch scheduled for 12 noon, according to the company’s India microsite and separate reports from technology outlets. The phone has already been introduced in China, and Xiaomi is positioning it around a single defining feature: an 8,000mAh battery. The Indian launch is expected to include details on availability and any introductory offers, with the event due to be streamed on Xiaomi India’s digital channels.

Early retail indications suggest the phone will go on sale from August 11, with Amazon India, Xiaomi’s own online store and offline retailers all likely to carry the device. Pricing is expected to start at about ₹30,000 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model, rising to roughly ₹33,000 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version. That places the handset squarely in the upper mid-range segment, where battery life and display quality are likely to matter as much as raw performance.

The leaked and pre-launch details point to a 7-inch Full HD+ OLED or AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor, a 50-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The combination suggests a phone aimed at buyers who want endurance first, but without giving up a large high-refresh screen and 5G support. Xiaomi’s own promotional material has also highlighted light blue and purple colour options, reinforcing the company’s attempt to make battery capacity the centre of the product’s appeal.
