Telegram enhances cross-device login flexibility with new QR code support

Telegram updates its login procedures, allowing users to seamlessly access their accounts across devices via QR codes and multi-session support, simplifying onboarding and security.

Getting into Telegram on a phone, computer or browser is straightforward once the account is already created. The service relies mainly on a mobile number for identity, then adds a verification step that may arrive by SMS, through another signed-in Telegram session or by QR code on supported desktop and web logins, according to Windows Report and Telegram login guides from other technical publishers.

On Android and iPhone, the process begins with the official app. Users enter their number in international format, wait for the verification code and, if they have set it up, complete two-step verification with a password. Once authenticated, Telegram loads the existing account and message history on that device. Tom’s Guide notes that this remains the standard path for new users starting on mobile.

Desktop access is more flexible. Telegram Desktop for Windows, macOS and Linux supports either a phone-number sign-in or a QR-code method. With the QR approach, the user opens Telegram on the phone, goes to the devices section in settings, adds a new device and scans the code shown on the computer. Telegram Web follows the same general pattern in the browser, letting users sign in without installing software first. Several setup guides also note that web access is useful for people moving between devices or using a shared computer.

Login problems usually come down to simple issues: an incorrect country code, repeated requests for fresh codes or a delay because Telegram sent the code to another active session rather than by SMS. Security guidance across the guides is consistent. Users should never share a login code or two-step verification password, even if a message appears to come from support. Telegram also supports multiple simultaneous sessions, so an account can stay open on phones, tablets, desktop apps and browsers at the same time.
